Letβs get started! Tips to stay motivated.
Dec 24, 2020Finding a morning routine that excites you is the best place to start, but here are 4 other daily habits that will keep you motivated to reach your goals. After all the finish line gets closer with every step.
Everyone has a different routine. The time doesn’t matter, it doesn’t exist unless you are answering to someone else’s limitations. So do not focus on the 5am. It works for me because I have restless thoughts.
In my routine often I am listening to a morning music playlist. My morning exercise is some sort of stretching heavy routine with the rebounder. My cold plunge is just that cold water to remind my body to act when my mind says act. I drink lemon water only, then fresh celery juice (30mins later) then a metal detox smoothie.
I listen to one of the audio books or do language practice in the morning shower. My morning is incomplete if I do not spend time with my family. I finish by revisiting, researching and reviewing topics I need for the day. A lot goes on , but your morning may be more peaceful. Why throw that away if you are getting a lot done, you are on your path to success and you enjoy the process.
The point is use the day, the morning to set the tone for the rest of your day. Create undeniable positive habits that your body and mind look forward to. Do something different to break a old bad habit and then celebrate the fact that you did. It doesn’t matter how big or small celebrate that first step!
If I had to point out four habits that changed my bad habits for good. I would start with:
1 - Keep Moving - It is important that when you feel down, low, or even a little out of it. Changing you physiology will have huge impact on your emotions and outlook for the day.
I personally get up at least one time each hour regardless now that I am home during the pandemic. I stand up each hour for at least five to ten minutes and jump on my rebounder. When I was able to go to my office, I used my standing desk and under the desk elliptical to keep moving. The best way to do it when you can and it is safe to do so is to get outdoors and get moving.
2 - Stay Hydrated - Drinking water keeps you energized, keeps you skin clean and helps with your blood staying clean. It is recommended that you drink a gallon of water each day. I believe everyone is different but the facts are the facts we need to stay hydrated and most of us are consistently dehydrated.
I make it a point to drink a minimum a eight ounce glass of water each hour I am at work or during working hours. Or I will take a twenty five ounce water bottle with me and drink four those during working hours and then finish the evening with smaller gasses during the evening. I like to end my evening with a glass of water. That's just me.
3 - Find Gratitude - Living is gratitude is not about being super positive everyday. It's about being grateful for whatever you have. The science has proven that when you live in gratitude your blood pressure, stress levels and anxiety tends to be lower. Finding things you are grateful during trying times can change your entire outlook.
For me, I attempt to remember a quote by Dr. Wayne Dwyer - "Change the way you look at things and the things you look at begin to change." I use affirmations and reminders on my phone to keep me in a state of gratitude. That's not to say I do not get upset but I have learned to ask myself, what can I learn from this situation. I then allow my words to pass through three gates before I speak (search Rumi) to learn about the three gates. This will often allow me the time to regroup. The biggest test for me is when things (obstacles, I call them) pile up. If things get too heavy I will exit the situation for a moment or ten and get moving with something as silly as I can to change my state.
4 - Learn Something - Learning new things stimulate the mind, body and soul. The mind is a huge piece of technology and it is always processing information. Feeding it information facilitates it's search for more information.
As I stated early, I attempt to learn something while in the shower during my morning routine. I also am looking to learn something new through out the day. As you know from my other blogs and social media post I read or listen to four or more books a month. I also learn from conversation. I monitor all the information I consume so I attempt to limit my television and social media scrolling. I do my best to apply the information as soon as I get it to make it part of my nervous system.
I feel after creating and sticking to my routine my days are a little easier. I did not speak on my daily workout routines or my eating habits. I believe people often copy what they see and hear works. Those two areas need consultation with a medical professional so people can stay safe. I know people that try the latest greatest diets or workout routines and tend to be disappointed when it doesn't work. I try to add things to what has worked for me in the past with the vision what I want to be in the future. You should too.
